Commuters passing swiftly through Stazione Municipio in Naples will soon see a vast new video fresco, named Passages, by the Israeli artist Michal Rovner. The piece, to be unveiled in the next few weeks, shows a series of moving figures that mimic the daily flow of people scuttling through the frenzied transport hub. “Passengers walking through the station will be reminded that they are part of the continuous human movement of all times,” Rovner says. The moving fresco also alludes to the excavations of the station which unearthed ancient Greek and Roman artefacts. Stazione Municipio was designed by the architects Àlvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Moura; the curator of the Metro Art project—featuring Rovner’s piece—is Achille Bonito Oliva. An exhibition of new work by Rovner, entitled Panorama, is on display at Pace London (until 15 June).
