Two-year-old two-steps with her hero, Michelle Obama

The internet experienced an overdose of adorableness last week when a photo of two-year-old Parker Curry staring in awe at Michelle Obama’s newly installed portrait at the National Portrait Gallery was shared across social media. The image, taken by an equally impressed fellow visitor, also illustrated a point Mrs Obama made during the portrait’s recent unveiling about the importance of representation in American institutions, especially for young girls of colour. “I know the kind of impact that will have on their lives, because I was one of those girls,” she said. Parker’s mother Jessica Curry told the Washington Post that the toddler was already a fan of Mrs Obama—and especially her dance moves on The Ellen DeGeneres Show—but after seeing the painting, she thinks the former First Lady is a “queen”. On Tuesday, the cute quotient was taken up a notch when Parker got to meet Michelle at her office in Washington and even share a hip shake. “Parker, I'm so glad I had the chance to meet you today (and for the dance party)!” Mrs Obama posted on Twitter. “Keep on dreaming big for yourself...and maybe one day I'll proudly look up at a portrait of you!” The admiration is clearly mutual.
